Why you need to choose your passion over money

We have all heard the famous saying, “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life”. No wonder it is repeated time and time again because this statement cannot be truer. When you focus your attention on pursuing a path that you genuinely enjoy, your quality of life will increase unequivocally.

The first and foremost reason that it is crucial to chase your dreams rather than a paycheck is because money can come and go in an instant. You could get into a lawsuit overnight which drains your bank account, experience an unexpected layoff or be robbed while you are on vacation. If your happiness is attached to how much money you have in the bank, you are doomed to begin with. Happiness is something that can be enhanced by external factors, however, true and lasting contentment must be sourced from within. A paycheque can deliver short-term happiness, however, fulfillment in your work, social and home life is the key to sustained contentment.

Think back to a time in school. How many times did you slack on an assignment because the subject put you to sleep? When you truly love what you do, you will perform better in multiple arenas of your life. You will have more to give to your family. You will excel at work and therefore, generate more sales or finally receive the promotion you hoped for. Your love for your chosen path will create value for both internal and external stakeholders. Others will be able to rely on you because your passion will speak for itself in the breadth of your work. Your social life will no longer be an escape from your dark and dreary work schedule. Your everyday life will be given a brand new meaning.

Money may buy exotic cars, profitable real estate and Chanel handbags but it cannot buy back time. Time is an invaluable asset because it is finite. We never know what tomorrow holds hence it is vital that we let our hearts lead the way when our heads become clouded. If you wake up one day to the epiphany that you are going to be happier as a truck driver than working your current corporate 9-5, go for it. Who is stopping you? Money will inevitably flow your way when you allocate enough of your time and energy to a specific undertaking.

Lastly and most significantly, you will live a more fulfilled and happy life. You will wake up with a greater sense of purpose each day when you partake in something that sets your soul aflame. Do what you love and the money will follow. If you do not know what you want, experiment with different jobs to uncover what it is that you like and dislike.

Money symbolizes different things for different people — hard work, greed, superficiality, freedom and nothingness (among other interpretations). In a world with money at the center of it, it is easy to become entwined with the illusion that capital will transform us into enchanting and formidable creatures worthy of love and respect. While money can foster unimaginable opportunities for some, it can be the cause of immense suffering for those who abuse it. Money ebbs and flows, but experiences last a lifetime.

How to Make a Vision Board

A vision board is a powerful tool. Vision board’s are a collection of photos/ quotes/ sayings that represent a goal. The main point of the vision board is to focus your mind and energy on a specific dream. By finding and gathering everything for your vision board you are subconsciously making what you want more clear.

Today in this post I am here to help you make your vision board. I am sure you’ve heard of vision boards but have you ever made one? If not follow along to this post to learn what you need to manifest your goals through a vision board, and create your very own board!

IMG_5383.jpg

First off I am going to start by busting come vision board myths:

  1. you have to start your vision board at the beginning of the year

False! You can start your vision board at anytime of the year, or whenever you feel a pull to manifest your goals. Creating a vision board is all about making a visual representation of your goals. Your goals can change at anytime of the year, so don’t think you must create your vision board in January!

  2. A vision board won’t come true

Wrong! Vision boards are all about manifesting your goals and dreams. The key to a successful vision board is to have a strong and clear understanding of your goals. When you set goals make sure they are realistic and this will help when you manifest them visually through your board.

  3. Vision boards are magic

Yes I know I just said that vision boards will come true, but you must know that the magic isn’t in your board. The magic is in you, and how you choose to manifest the goals on your board. I love putting positive words and affirmations on my vision board. When I pass by the board I say these words to reinforce them.

Now lets get to creating your board! Creating vision boards are so fun, and they should be fun! They are all about you and your goals, dreams, hopes and vision. Follow the steps below or check out my vid if you’re more of a visual person!

  1. Write down your goals- Make a list of your goals both short term and long term. Then think of the steps you will need to take to reach these goals. It is important to break down your goals so you understand the purpose behind your vision board.

  2. Find visual inspiration- Look through magazines or search on Pinterest for quotes and photos that reflect the goals on your list.

  3. Put your vision board together- You can put your vision board together in a variety of different ways. You can make sections for different areas in your life or for short term or long term goals. Personally I like to collage all of my pieces together in no particular order. I put a lot of words and quotes on mine so I like to have them spread out.

  4. Hang up your vision board in somewhere you can see- It is important to keep your vision board in a place where you will see it often. Don’t expect it to come true if it’s hiding in your closet! Keep your vision board where you can see it, read it, and absorb it.

Vision boards help to challenge your limiting beliefs. By putting your dreams on your board you are able to assure yourself that all of these amazing things can and will come true for you. Manifesting is all about focusing on the positive, and having gratitude for all you do have in order to manifest more. Keep your vision board positive, focusing on your goals and what you want to achieve. Adding people you look up to in your vision board will help you manifest what you need to achieve the qualities you see in them. I hope you have fun making your vision board, because they are supposed to be fun, it’s all about you! Remember there is no right or wrong way. A vision board can come in many forms, shapes and sizes. Thanks for reading and happy manifesting!

Check out the video below to see our vision boards come together!

3 Simple Ways to Incorporate Gratitude in Your Daily Life

3 ways to express gratitude everyday.png

Several studies have shown that gratitude has many positive effects on a person including psychological, physical, increasing self- esteem, and enhancing empathy. Recognizing what we have in our lives to be grateful for in the most difficult of times helps us to become more resilient. Today for you I have compiled 3 simple ways to express gratitude each day. Start with a simple step and as your gratitude routine grows, try some other methods of expression.

1. Thank your Surroundings

Once when I was having a rough day, a friend reminded me to look at everything around me and say “that’s really beautiful”. To look at the trees, flowers, the birds in the sky and be mindful of the nature beauty provides us everyday. Another similar practice is to say “thank you” to everything around you, to really take the time to appreciate your surroundings.

2. Express One Thing You Are Grateful for Before Every Meal

We sit down to eat multiple times a day, with hungry bellies and hungrier eyes we often forget to be thankful for the food in front of us. Before you sit down for your meals I challenge you to express one thing you are grateful for. It can be a practice you do once a day or before every meal. You can express gratitude for the food on your plate or it can be for something new or special in your life. Anything at all, take this moment to express your gratitude.

3. Start a Gratitude Journal

3 ways to express gratitude everyday (1).png

This one I will admit can be more challenging and requires a little more effort. But if you can, try to write down three things everyday you are grateful for. Again it can be simple. Maybe it’s the sunshine, the warm weather or maybe you had a lovely conversation. An easy way to remember is to keep a journal by your bed and write in it every night before falling asleep.

Here are some other great gratitude journaling prompts:

  • write down 1 kind thing you did for someone in the past 24 hours

  • if you could only own 3 things what would they be?

  • what are 3 thoughts that made you smile today?

  • what/ who inspires you?

  • What is one random act of kindness someone did for you?

  • What is one thing that cheers you up when you are down?

  • Write about your hobby

  • Write about 5 things you love about yourself and express your gratitude for each one

Practicing gratitude can be very simple and can have great effects on your mood, and your overall outlook on life. I have heard the saying “The more gratitude you have the more you have to be grateful for”. Add in small steps to practicing gratitude everyday. A little goes a long way.
